Definition#

A substance list is a maintained list of substances that are restricted, prohibited, or must be declared. It is the yardstick that a material declaration reports against.

The major lists#

IEC 62474 DSL
Electronics. The declarable substance list
GADSL
Automotive
RISL
Rail
REACH Candidate List
SVHCs, all industries

Why so many?#

A general rule like REACH touches every sector, but each industry uses different materials. A sector list trims the universe down to what actually shows up in that industry's parts, which keeps declarations short and comparable. Browse them under Substance Lists, or see the authoritative Declarable Substance List for electronics.
